Quick Link: Who’s Religiously Persecuted Around the World?

The Pew Research Center released a chart yesterday on rates of religious harassment around the world:

I’ve been reading European foreign policy for promoting religious freedom internationally this semester, and my sense so far is that, rhetorically and in practice, these policies are really targeted at religious persecution of Christians, and frame religious freedom in Christian terms. Based on this graph, obviously that’s the appropriate approach in some places – much of Asia, for instance. But in other places, I wonder if this chart suggests that  a policy tailored towards another group – or broadened to include multiple persecuted groups – might be more effective.
