If Bush Ran Against Jesus

(from MAD Magazine)

I loved MAD magazine as a kid. It was funny, and smart, and even felt a bit subersive. When reading MAD, you knew that your folks wouldn’t get all the jokes, and that they wouldn’t approve of many that they did. So when browsing the blogs the other day, I found a link in a comment that led to this MAD Magazine parody, I was very pleased. They’re still smart, funny, and not afriad to offend. Good. This is funny, because it is so easy to recognize as the way things are, and the way they would be, should Jesus ever seek elected office in America today.

How can you laugh at things like that? There are no words for this. Keep that kind of opinions for yourselfs or you won’t bring it very far. If you don’t like christianity, ok, but don’t go heart people that do believe, ok?

Hanne,

I laugh at this very easily, because it hits so close to the mark. This parody is not an attack on christianity. It points out the hypocrisy of the sort of attacks that George Bush’s campaign employed during his "re-election" in 2004, and how they might have been used if Jesus was his opponent rather than John Kerry.

Don’t ask me to keep my opinions to myself, or accuse me of hurting (I assume you meant ‘hurt’ rather than ‘heart’) christians. I won’t do the former and haven’t done the latter. You would do better to look closely at our President who loves to espouse his christian morals, and consider how his actions match them. I say they don’t.

Chris
